PARASITE OF GOD INTERVIEW
Why is it important to you to make music you enjoy and not to stick to pre-defined genre restrictions?
Parasite Of God - I wouldn’t say that it’s important for us, it’s just the way we are. For us creating music is a very creative journey, if we tied ourselves down to certain rules to fit in the journey, it wouldn’t be as fun as it could be. I do think this might be a little bit of a problem in the future since we might change direction in our music... We’ll see...
And what do you feel this gives you as a band that other bands who stick to a specific don’t have?
Parasite Of God - As I said earlier it gives us on an individual level a very free and big world to move around in. How it will affect our relation with the people who listen to our creations I don’t know. Too early to Say. But with all this said we will always keep some elements in our music that we love and a lot of that already shows in Parasite of God.
The message that accompanied the news of your new album you said leave the judging to the weak ones, explain this statement please.
Parasite Of God - There is so much good music out there, find what u like. There are so many different styles of clothing out there, find what u like. Be yourself and enjoy your life. Important part in the above statement is that if u need to step on other people and complain about other people’s styles or taste just to feel better about yourself then u need to be stronger. .. not a be weak one!
Outcasts And Freaks is something quite amazing, being a DJ too I was given the pleasure of hearing the first three tracks from the new album. So tell me what is the rest of the album like?
Parasite Of God - Thank u for the feedback! That makes us happy to hear that. Well we think the songs on the album follow the same spirit. Some are more aggressive with more guitar and some are more electronic. We really hope all of the songs have something to bring to the table for the listener!
In this world if you are alternative you get shunned and laughed at by main stream society, what do you feel is the importance of maintaining your own individuality?
Parasite Of God - Is there a choice?? We are who we are and fuck those who won’t allow us to be that. Is it always easy? Of course not but in my belief u only live once so let’s do the best of it.
To me being alternative isn’t just about the way I dress or the music I listen to, it’s a lot more than that. But what does being alternative mean to you?
Parasite Of God - If u saw me (Norrsken) on the Streets u wouldn’t turn your head! For me being alternative is a way of the mind! I dress how I want and what I feel comfortable in! Guess u can say that if u don’t love the mainstream u love something else, just keep on doing your own thing! Be proud and stay strong...
Outcasts And Freaks comes in a 2CD limited edition with the second CD being remixes, to you how does it feel to hear other musicians versions of your music?
Parasite Of God - Makes us unbelievable proud! That someone Else takes time and effort to transform our songs into new creations is a really nice feeling! We thank them from the bottom of our souls!
I’ve seen Ron Jeremy cover Wrecking Ball which was different Why did you choose to cover Wrecking Ball and what response did you get after releasing it?
Parasite Of God - Ha ha ha yeah I saw the Ron Jeremy version as well! Well we did a couple of different covers and in the end we decided to go with Wrecking ball. We think it turned out Great. Music is a lot about seasoning! With the right spices u can turn any song into something else. We got good reactions we think... Well I posted the video on a Miley Cyrus fan page just for fun and maybe not so many happy faces there! Ha ha ha
It took you a long time to create the music for your album and you said that you can tell the songs you created earlier on and those which were completed close to completion of the album. Which songs are those from the early days and which ones were closest to completion?
Parasite Of God - Oldest is Breaking The Girl, Virgin Blood and Legion. The newest is Through Sorrow, Nine and Black Widow. Things have changed a bit but not much!
Would you say your music evolved on the album and if do what form of evolution happened?
Parasite Of God - Maybe a little, think we have moved towards a cleaner sound. But it’s never too late to turn back ;0)
Outcasts and Freaks was mastered by X-Fusion, what did that final element bring to your music?
Parasite Of God - He did a great job with bringing the songs together, unite them in a way! He brought forth a lot of depths and room in the sound as well!
Norrsken you put a lot into your vocals, how do you get so much power and why do you give it so much?
Parasite Of God - I kind of suck at growling, I still think it sounds nice but I torment myself in the song booth. I sing to far up in my throat. As I said I like how it sounds but it leads to headaches and a bloody taste! I just go on as hard as I need to make it sound good!
Warg you deliver a wonderful dark setting and amazing sounds to complement Norrsken’s powerful vocals, where do those wonderful soundscapes come from?
Parasite Of God - We use both keyboard and music programs. We bend and break and stretch and change from the scrapyard called internet!
Gentleman thank you for this interview and also for the amazing music you have created any final thoughts?
Parasite Of God - U asked earlier how it felt when a musician did a remix on one of our songs! We get the same feeling when someone wants to do an interview with us! So thank u for your time and commitment to the scene!! And for the rest of u who reads this, come say hello on our page on FB and listen to our songs!
